SPAREConnect provides a mechanism for power system asset owners and operators to communicate with other SPAREConnect participants concerning the potential sharing of spare transmission and generation step-up (GSU) transformers, spare distribution transformers and related spare equipment, including bushings, fans, and auxiliary components, towers, poles, overhead conductors, underground cables and other equipment.
SPAREConnect establishes a formal program, which already exists on an informal basis, to facilitate the communication of equipment needs in the event of an emergency or other non-routine failure and connects interested participants in a more efficient and effective way.
